Another photo from the vault, but this one is only from a few months ago. This is the view from my apartment, boats on Elliott Bay at sunrise. I handheld this shot because it was early and I didn’t feel like setting up the tripod. Also, I used my 80-200mm lens.

This picture is from last winter. It was snowing outside, which happens rarely here, the heater was running and the Christmas lights were blinking.

I don’t mind the cold if I’m inside and bundled up. Plus I’ve only seen snow falling from the sky a handful of times so it’s still pretty exciting.

I haven’t taken many pictures this fall, so here’s one of my favorites from last year that I never posted. I took it in the park across the street from where I live. A circular polarizer gives the blue sky extra punch.

I love this season.

I was at the park playing with the long lens I’d borrowed from school when I caught this scene. I liked how the boy patiently waited for the man (his father? the coach?) to finish adjusting his uniform.

Around 2002, I practiced “freezing the action shots” on a dog agility class in Santa Barbara, CA. This is one of the best shots — and one of the first pictures I ever sold.

I took this picture last year at a pumpkin field/corn maze in Snohomish County, Washington.

Recently “pumpkin” became the most popular keyword to lead people to this site — even beating out “fireworks” — and I say, Give the People What They Want. So here is another pumpkin. Enjoy.

I took this photo on my last day in Shinjuku. I was waiting for the airport shuttle on the 20th floor, which is where the hotel lobby is located. From here you can see Shinjuku Gyoen and beyond. Tokyo, Japan. August 2008.

This red dragonfly was in Shinjuku Gyoen, a very large park. The park is about 144 acres in size, and a very pleasant place to walk around on a hot and humid day. Tokyo, Japan. August 2008.
